My first year as a JO (Junior Officer)

I'd been to camp a few times as a camper and was excited to return as a Junior Officer, but unsure of what to expect. What I found there was a team of fellow JOs, mostly made up of friends I'd made when we were campers with a few new members there to join in the fun.

As a team, we bonded almost instantly though specific JO activities and tailored workshops to help us prepare for leading Bible Studies and being someone campers could look up to. We were each paired with an experienced Tent Officer and a tentful of campers for the week. As the week progressed, we managed to still participate in the fun of camp while our responsibilities increased.

At the end of the week, I couldn't believe how much I'd grown up while having so much fun! I was a JO again the following year, and the year after that felt ready to take on the role as a TO.

I'm still amazed now that I enjoy camp just as much as I did as a camper!
